A 60 Year Legacy Built on Innovation
1963
1963- 7th of May, Alpha Industries was incorporated under theleadership of Mr. N. E. Weerasooriya, Q.C., and became part of the Finco Group.
Early Milestones:
- Began manufacturing the first iron safes in Ceylon (Sri Lanka)
- Launched steel production, introducing cupboards, filing cabinets, and Alpha executive safes
1965
With the acquisition of machinery and the establishment of a welding plant, Alpha began manufacturing bank safes, vault doors, and safe deposit lockers for People’s Bank and Bank of Ceylon.
1967
Completed its first major technical project at the Bank of Ceylon, Mullaitivu branch, and established a dedicated technical team.
1971
Amid government-imposed import restrictions, Alpha became the country’s sole manufacturer and supplier of safes, laying the foundation for its continued leadership in security products.
1979
Constructed and inaugurated the Mattegoda factory, with special guests from Kaso Oy, Finland, including Chairman Mr.Heikki Baharman and Production Manager Mr Erik.
1980
Expanding Beyond Steel Furniture
Alpha broadens its portfolio from steel furniture into secure storage solutions, introducing innovative safes and vaults that quickly position the company as a trusted name in personal and commercial security.
1984
Achieved certification for fire, drop, and burglary resistance following testingconducted at the Steel Corporation Foundry in Oruwala with CSIR officials.
1991
Developed the first lightweight safe, tested by ITI, and obtained fire resistance certification under Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) after testing in Japan.
1995
Established a woodworking plant to manufacture MDF and melamine furniture for standard business and interior projects.
2001
Achieved ISO certification, marking a significant milestone in qualitystandards.
2002
Formed the Interior Business Division, launching its first project.
2016
Entering Healthcare Equipment Manufacturing
Responding to rising national demand, Alpha expands into hospital equipment, producing durable beds, trolleys, and storage systems engineered for clinical performance and safety.
2019
Alpha Industries becomes a leading security solutions provider for Sri Lanka’s banking and finance sector, delivering trusted technologies and services that help financial institutions operate with confidence and security.
2022
Entered a strategic partnership with Singer Sri Lanka to expand marketreach.
2023
Enhanced manufacturing infrastructure with the introduction of advancedautomated machinery.
2024
Celebrated 60 years of excellence with the company’s largest-ever salesconference.
2025
Secured an exclusive partnership in Sri Lanka with Shaw Contract, one of theworld’s leading carpet manufacturers.
2026
Successfully completed the FIRST Design & Build Commercial project at Port City Colombo.
